Review: This sequel is better in every conceivable way. The action might take up a little less screen time percentage wise, but is more brutal (way more), even better choreographed, varied and memorable. I think this movie has the greatest overall collection of fight scenes in the history of action cinema, and a fantastic car chase too. Obviously I havent seen every movie in existence, but I have never seen anything with such a collection of incredibly well done and brutal fights. Characters have depth to them, even if on a comic book level, and are well cast and well played. Story is fairly intelligent, and more than services the action. Everything else; filming, editing, sound design, stunts, special effects are stellar. There are quite a few how the hell did they do that?!? moments.

But if you are not prude and self limiting then you should enjoy this as fun and easy to watch movie. It does point out the aspects of unintended consequences that can happen when you make choices.

Review: This movie is sweet with some good actors, good characters and a few jokes. The movie is about a chef that takes his job very seriously with lots of passion who has a mean one dimensional boss a son a hot divorced wife etc. The characters are all interesting except his boss. If you like to watch a family movie/ romantic movie this is 7 Star!! easy! However it is classified as comedy with a joke about every 10 minutes. Even Jaws( horror) had Jokes and so did Commando (action). That does not make them a comedy !! This is a family drama with some jokes! This spoiled it for me since I wanted a good laugh ! There was not a single funny joke until the 40th minute! Most jokes were as much dramatic/ sad as funny.I was on the verge of leaving then Robert Downey Jnr entered the scene . He was there for 5 minutes yet somehow after this - not sure if the actors suddenly realised it or the script writer- but the movie picked up life! Overall it was still way to serious for a comedy! I am not sure who classifies comedy to the genre for this family drama with occasional jokes.. So for a family movie 7 starts for a comedy 4 stars. So I can settle on 5 *.

Review: I went to see this movie misled by the high rating on IMDb. Unfortunately it looks like Hollywood makes movies for people with short memory. I admit I havent read the source book, but I guess I wouldnt, judging by what came out of it. I hereby venture myself in saying that the book is also a bad SciFi novel. It has way to obvious imports from well known themes that have been exploited to the brim by today (like the perfect society that sacrifices diversity for peace, the different guy that stands-up to the system, the genuine technology that controls individuals (poorly described, by the way), the fear confrontation ad the list could go on and on. It is not essentially bad to bring these themes in a movie, but I see nothing new, original here. So... if you have seen Equilibrum and the Hunger Games then you know it all. Movies today are just mobile phones... keep reproducing features from the competition, while it is supposed to be an art. Another thing cant stand in movies in general is the poor IT incursions. I am talking about the scene in which Jeanine is asked to turn off the control system which consists of a huge touch screen in which she just hits some cancel button. That was really pathetic... Anyone could have done that right? Another thing that I cant stand, is the cheap psychology things in these movies. They are all based on some sort of psychoanalysis which is long time deprecated in therapy. But it is somehow considered to be cool and trendy by producers to insert these kind of flavour into the movies to make it more profound. Or are they just as stupid and ignorants as the target viewers? Anyhow... to me, this is bad taste in art. If you want to really go for it, you must do way better that that and if you cant, then at least make it more interesting. It is also true that movies like Inception dont occur every month, but once they do... they set a trend and everybody will just take a byte of it. Dont get me wrong, it is a watchable movie, perhaps a little too long for its story, which, by the way, is very predictable and full of clichés. I read some users claiming it resembles The Hunger Games and so it is, especially with the modest ending that awkwardly announces a sequel. I could predict how the story developed and ended after the first 15 minutes and thats what makes this movie mediocre. Script is mediocre, but at least it does not abounds in stereotypes so its bearable. What can be said about acting... there is no acting in this kind of movies, you only need to be young and good looking, be able to learn your part and youre done. Its not that the actors are bad, but the movie itself is not based on any acting mastery and just because of that, the girl gets a plus for making something out of it. I am curious if the ratings will stay as high as now in time.

Review: *I tried to leave out any major story spoilers* Its day 6 now of the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. I went to check out Open Windows, starring porn star Sasha Grey, at the Alamo Drafthouse on 6th Street downtown. I introduce her as porn star because her career as an actress has not really taken off, even after a title role in The Girlfriend Experience from Steven Soderberg, one of the greatest movie directors of all time. She was also in many episodes of Entourage on HBO. Ive been kind of rooting for her since we dont hear many stories of porn stars becoming successful movie stars. They...cant be taken seriously. The Girlfriend Experience proved that wrong. Entourage played with the idea. Now, after hearing the premise, I was expecting Ms. Grey to be embracing her career in porn and actually let us watch her through Open Windows get naked in theaters. The film...did...not...deliver. What we do get is a world of technology. Almost futuristic, the film is shown through multiple webcams and security cameras. The villain has all of these at his disposal as well as the entire internet (apparently). Whatever statement the director was trying to make, I felt was lost. The third act really lost me. Its not even worth explaining. As for the rest of it, basically, we have an actress who sucks (Sasha plays an actress whos supposed to be popular), and her number one fan has a website and is set to meet her. The villain set this up to capture her and blame him for it. There are too many twists that the director couldnt even keep up with, and there were some applaud-worthy moments that were ruined by the way the film was made. It plays like a found-footage film, but were watching it on a computer. The entire thing is real-time so it feels like its all done in one take. What it SHOULD have been... Was a Rear Window homage. Thats what I was expecting based on an article in the Austin Chronicle that actually mentioned Rear Window as if Open Windows was going to pay respects to Hitchcock. Instead, windows here arent the ones we look through to engage in voyeurism like a pervert at our favorite porn star. Theyre the ones we look at on a computer screen! Elijah Wood (oh yeah, he was in it) shouldnt have been forced to leave his hotel room, as if the director wanted us to leave our comfort zone so early, even though a car chase erupts when he chases down the bad guy. This was actually the best scene in the film, and with a low camera angle through much of it from inside the car (via webcam on laptop in passenger seat that is somehow not sliding around everywhere). That should have been the climax, because it was actually mildly gripping until it kept going, slowing down the whole pace of the film. The narrative goes crazy with twists, too. Like, too many. They didnt make sense, either. The director admitted to this in a Q&A after the show. Audience members were asked for questions, yet unwilling to participate until the director just plain asked if anyone hated it so much that they wanted to slap him. True story.This is an opportunity we should have for more directors, actually.However, this guy was SO nice, I just felt bad for him. When a shot of Makers Mark was offered, someone took the opportunity. He slapped the director on the stage. He knew his movie wasnt good. Someone did actually ask if there was any commentary about being a celebrity or our current technology. He said that were all okay with living lives that should be private and arent. This answer was unrelated to the film. I wish Sasha would have showed up at the screening. Sasha Grey was basically playing herself, in the movie, an actress even. Except, one the world has never seen naked.Thats a joke, right? This flick will not help her serious movie career.

Review: In my IMDb review of Blood and Bone, I not only top-rated the film (a no-brainer) but pointed out that Michael Jai White was probably the most entertaining action star out there, with split-second moves and a friendly gravitas that lets him connect with the viewer.That second part was clearly NOT a no-brainer, because, other than the IMDb faithful, no one else seems to have caught the hint.Now, a few years later, director Ernie Barbarash, who seems to have had a penchant for working with Van Damme, finally made the smart choice.For all intents and purposes, this could be Whites long-awaited sequel to Blood and Bone. It is a slow-starter but frankly to see White in an action scene is well worth the wait. And the benefit of a slow start is that it builds. Not a lot of films today can claim that.I will close this review with a challenge to anyone in Hollywood with ears to hear and eyes to see. White seems in peak condition but history tells us that he probably has only so many of these films in him before he goes the way of Seagal and starts wearing designer clothes based on tents. Somebody should notice this guy and let him start making the films he was meant to make.

Review: I never saw the first Think Like a Man(2012), but I enjoyed the sequel, If you are expecting The Hangover(2009) meets Bridesmaid(2011) from what you saw in the trailers, Well it kind of is, but it does not quite go there. This film is only for a entertaining ride, and for anybody just to sit back and forget about your problems.Kevin Hart was better here then he was in About Last Night, any scenes he is in, he milks it for all it worth. But the rest of the cast are pretty memorable also, the men and ladies really bring it all here. The Las Vegas scene is also good, and becomes its own character. There are also some good dramatic moments. See this movie with friends, and I hope you have good time.

Review: To be perfectly honest, I really like Google, its not that I am against the brand or anything, and I even think their marketing campaigns are very intricate and subtle...and thats exactly why I hated this movie, its not subtle at all.The Internship, to sum things up, its one of the longest infomercials Ive seen in my entire life, and badly enough is also really boring at that; the actors do their best to make it look like an actual movie, they even succeed in the first 15 minutes of the film, but its when Google takes the whole screen that everything goes down the drain...they even go in the Google AdWords just saved an entire franchise direction...I think this is just a waste of time, if I wanted information about Google Drive, Gmail or Google Wallet I could have googled it right? I mean, there are youtube videos about those products, and theres a reason why people dont just waste their spare time watching those videos...well, now Google charged us to do it...Oh and by the way, as a comedy it sucks big time, I did not laugh even once...

Review: There should be no boundary between human endeavour, Stephen Hawking explains during a press conference. It is this line that strikes a chord at the very centre of James Marshs incredible biopic on one of the most brilliant scientists of our time. The Theory of Everything is not just a story about the science behind the beginnings of our universe, but the science of love; and how lifes challenges that we face everyday, shape who we are and what we achieve. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones turn in phenomenal performances as the revolutionary Stephen Hawking and his former wife Jane Wilde. Eddies mentally and physically challenging role, displaying Hawkings brilliance and motor neuron disease, are extremely commendable and impressive (a sure fire for a Best Actor nomination at next years Oscars). On the more sensitive side, Felecity displays the endless love and powerful fight Jane brought to the Hawking household. As the years pass, their lives are changed tremendously in very profound and heart-wrenching ways. The movie does not shy away from making Hawking a complex character, as well as Jane, showing both their positive and negative sides. I really liked that the movie was able to shape them into fully well-rounded characters despite the romance aspect of it. The score for the film is tremendous.. absolutely outstanding! It hits all the right marks, brings upon emotions right when you are on the verge of tears, leaves you in awe after a beautiful monologue, and finishes with a melancholy but very fitting tone. The script and directing were top-notch.. right up there with the best... and the cinematography? give that guy an award already! A masterpiece to watch. While some critics may be quick to judge how the film focuses more on the romance rather than the science that made Hawking so renowned, I believe that the love is what made him who he is today. Human endeavour is endless... Stephen never gave up hope, nor did Jane... and though their lives ended up in different places, it was their years together that displayed to us how a little bit of hope can go a very, very long way.Verdict: A beautiful story that shows how time and love are limitless... no beginning, no end (despite his earlier hypothesis). *****In Theatres: November 7th, 2014 (USA), January 2, 2015 (UK)

Review: Everyone is judging this movie based on its accuracy to the book, which is understandable. I re-read the book 2 days ago, so it would be fresh in my head before viewing the movie for the first time. I absolutely love the book, and I had heard varying opinions about the movie (mostly negative), but I wanted to watch it with an open mind and present my own opinion. I must say: this movie is simply amazing. Firstly, the acting is top-notch: Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges were perfect of course, but Brenton Thwaites and Odeya Rush also brought depth to their characters. I loved seeing Taylor Swift make an appearance in the film, and she gave life to a character who was only mentioned in the book. Katie Holmes and Alexander Skarsgård showed flawless acting in their supporting roles as well. The movie excelled in more than just its acting. There were so many powerful chilling moments, particularly with the portrayal of the memories. The contrast of the sensory-rich memories of the past with the colorless and boring Utopian community is what brought real depth to the film. My favorite aspect was the slow transition from black-and-white to vivid colors. My only true complaint about the movie is that it was too short. I didnt want it to end. As far as staying true to the book, there were minor changes, such as the ages of the characters and the career assignments, but these made sense. People must understand that when a book is adapted on screen, there are certain things that must change for viewing continuity purposes. I will say that, as always, the characterization was better in the book, and I was able to form a connection with the characters quicker with a written description. The movie jumped right into the plot, which was good for the pacing of the story, but this meant it took longer to really understand the characters. Having already read the book, this was not a problem for me. The overall themes and concepts (such as sameness, colors, emotion, and love), were portrayed ingeniously throughout the movie. As much as I love the amazing use of imagery in the book, being able to actually visualize the transition from a dull community to a vivid, colorful world was breathtaking. Also, without giving spoilers, the movie gives explanations to concepts in the book, especially with the memory boundary that separates the society from Elsewhere. The movie doesnt stray from the book, it just provides more clarity. Finally, I loved the ending of the movie. It gives more closure, and was even more satisfying than the book was. My overall conclusion is that this movie serves as an excellent counterpart to the book. The detailed characterization of the book and the sensory stimulating scenes in the film complement each other nicely to make one cohesive, stunning, and powerful story.
